Division of decimalsTo divide a decimal number by a whole number, you have to use long division while ignoring the decimal point. Then you need to put the decimal point into the answer in the same place as it was in the dividend.
|
Multiplication of decimalsTo multiply decimals, you need to multiply as usual, while ignoring the decimal. Then you need to put the decimal point into the answer by adding up the original decimal places in the factors and moving the decimal point over that many places in the answer.

Multiplication and division of fractions
Dividing Fractions:
To divide fractions, you need to flip the divisor, this is now the reciprocal. Then you need to multiply the first fraction by that reciprocal. Lastly, simplify the resulting fraction, if necessary. |
Multiplying Fractions:
First, you need to multiply the top numbers (the numerators). Then, you need to multiply the bottom numbers (the denominators). Lastly, you simplify the resulting fraction, if necessary. |
